Iran has not requested that the US push back strikes against Iranian energy sites, the Wall Street Journal reported, citing mediators in peace talks.
The US president said earlier on Truth Social that he will hold off on strikes for a further 10 days past his initial deadline – due to expire tomorrow.
He claimed this was “per an Iranian government request” and that talks with Tehran were going “very well”.
Trump first threatened to strike Iranian energy infrastructure last Saturday if Iran did not reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
He postponed the strikes on Monday, saying Washington and Tehran held “very good and productive conversations”.
The latest update adds to the confusion surrounding talks, with Iran consistently denying negotiations were taking place. It did respond, however, to a US-proposed 15-point plan for ending the war.
